At Bethany Lutheran Church, we hold to the historic, biblical teaching of baptism as taught in the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS). Baptism isn’t just a symbol—it’s one of the powerful ways God brings His grace into our lives.
Baptism Is God's Gift to Us
We believe that baptism is something God does for us, not something we do for Him. Through simple water and God’s Word, He gives us the gifts of forgiveness, new life, and salvation (Titus 3:5; Acts 2:38). It’s one of the ways God wraps us in His promises.
Baptism Is for All Ages
We baptize infants, children, and adults—because everyone needs God’s grace, and God’s promises are for everyone. In Scripture, we see that:
Baptism Happens Once
We believe in one baptism for a lifetime (Ephesians 4:5). Even if someone walks away from the faith for a time, God’s promises in baptism remain. What we need then is not to be baptized again, but to return in repentance and trust God’s grace anew.
Rooted in Scripture
Here are just a few places where the Bible speaks about the power and purpose of baptism:
If you have questions about baptism—whether you're curious about your own, considering it for your child, or just want to know more—we’d love to talk with you. God’s promises are real, and they’re for you.
