First Communion Classes
Bethany will be offering a FREE annual First Communion class for 5th grade students (or any middle school student who has not yet taken this program).
What is First Communion?
This four-session program is designed for 5th grade students AND their parents. That’s right! Parents, we want you not only attending this with your child, but getting a unique experience to provide you with the adequate tools to continue this faith formation right at home.
Why First Communion?
Here at Bethany, we hold three major values when it comes to experiential faith in the church: communion, grace, and baptism. Each topic will be addressed and unpacked each session, giving students and parents an even better understanding of the importance of these values.
Seder Meal
Participants and their families will have the chance to take communion together for the first time right here at Bethany. It is a celebration that includes the history behind communion and also serves as a milestone to experience with loved ones.
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.
Confirmation
Jesus commands us to both baptize and teach. Through baptism, God gives us faith, new life and the assurance of salvation. But after baptism, Christians need to be taught more about their faith.
WHAT IS CONFIRMATION?
Confirmation is a three-year program for students at Bethany, normally beginning in a student’s 8th grade year. Through lessons, speakers, and small groups, we have in-depth conversations about what Christians believe and how to apply our faith in daily life.
SCHEDULE
Classes are held Sunday mornings, 10:00-10:50am, September-February. A detailed schedule will be distributed at the Kick-off Meeting.
COST (NEW!)
There is no cost to the confirmation program. (However, there will be a cost for the fall and spring retreat … details TBA.)
